HAMMONTON – The Hammonton Rotary Club presented a check for $6,000 to Hammonton Police Chief Frank Ingemi Thursday, Feb. 25 toward the purchase of a new K-9 dog for the Hammonton Police Department.

After a careful selection process and training, the dog will replace one that will be retired soon, eventually performing such vital and potentially life-saving functions as finding narcotics, clearing buildings of hidden and dangerous suspects, and protecting officers in difficult situations.

Chief Ingemi expressed his gratitude for the club’s support during a presentation at the club’s weekly meeting at Rocco’s Townhouse, adding that he was especially appreciative that the club reached out to him to ask how it could help.

The check represents money raised from the Hammonton Rotary Club’s Annual Champagne Breakfast fundraiser Nov. 29, 2009 at Rocco’s, and other club fundraisers.

The Hammonton Rotary Club is grateful to the Hammonton community whose support of club fundraisers and events made this donation possible.

The club’s next major fundraiser will be its Fifth Annual Homemade Wine Tasting Event 7 p.m. Friday, April 16 at Hammonton Fire House No. 2, in Elvin’s Hall, located on the White Horse Pike in Hammonton.

Tickets are $30 and include a buffet dinner catered by Rocco’s. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; must be 21 to attend. Tickets are available from any Hammonton Rotary Club member.
