The Hammonton Rotary Club has rolled out the application for its annual scholarship for 2023 with some important changes.
What was previously known as the Hammonton Rotary Club Foundation Scholarship has been renamed in tribute to the person most responsible for its launch more than 20 years ago. Now known as the Hammonton Rotary Club Hugh LaMonaca Community Service Scholarship, in honors the Hammonton Rotary Club past president who passed away January 22, 2023, just two days shy of his 89th birthday.
Hugh did the leg work required to create Hammonton Rotary’s charitable foundation. He also was influential in establishing the club’s ongoing support of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry.
He was a shining example of Rotary’s “Service Above Self” motto and the inspiration behind the scholarship’s renewed focus on service.
CLICK HERE to access the application. The scholarship offers a maximum award of $2,000. The scholarship is open to students with a 3.0 GPA or better. All applications, which require two letters of recommendation plus an essay, must be received by April 16, 2023.
